A device for dissolving thrombus in blood vessels using a magnetostrictive vibrator is provided to effectively and safely treat diseases caused by a vascular occlusion such as an ischaemic stroke by the use of an ultrasonic resonance generated by an external magnetic field. A device for dissolving thrombus in blood vessels using a magnetostrictive vibrator(1) includes the magnetostrictive vibrator, a guide wire pusher(2), an alternating current magnetic field generating mechanism(3), and a vibration generator(4). The magnetostrictive vibrator is formed by fitting cylindrical bars(1a) made of magnetostrictive materials into wires(1c). The guide wire pusher extends at one side of the magnetostrictive vibrator. The alternating current generating mechanism generates an alternating current magnetic field outside a human body to transfer the alternating current magnetic field to the magnetostrictive vibrator. The vibration generator transmits a vibration signal to the alternating current generating mechanism. The alternating current generating mechanism is an electromagnet.
