A child car seat comprises a pair of shoulder belts (44, Fig. 1), an adjuster belt (52, Fig. 1) connected to the shoulder belts, and a car seat shell (12, Fig. 1) having a seat portion (16, Fig. 1) and a back portion (18, Fig. 1). The back portion has a pair of spaced apart longitudinal slots 102 for the shoulder belts, a pair of rails (58, Fig. 9) on a rear side of the back portion each having a longitudinal slot (86, Fig. 9) and a headrest aperture (72, Fig. 2), a moveable transverse adjustment beam (88, Fig. 9) between the rails to control the height of the shoulder belts and a beam securing device (92, Fig. 10). The seat also comprises a positionable crotch strap adjustment device (114, Fig. 12) in the seat portion, and a removable headrest (14, Fig. 1) having a pair of projections (74, Fig. 2) positioned and secured in the rails. Also disclosed are a child car seat comprising an adjustment beam which extends through the slots in the rails, a rear lock for a child car seat used with a vehicle seat belt when the car seat is facing forward, a front lock for a child car seat used with a vehicle seat belt when the car seat is facing rearward, a child car seat comprising an adjustment beam with a knob at each end, an adjustable crotch strap secured to a moveable plate under a seating area of a child car seat, and a convertible child car seat comprising a seat having an upper section separable from a lower section. |
