A scanning apparatus and a method therefor are provided to form a Lissajours scan pattern in a horizontal direction by controlling the operation of a mirror included in the scanner, thereby reducing a pinch effect. A scanning apparatus includes a mirror unit(31) and a driving unit(H1,H2). The mirror unit reflects incident light while rotating in horizontal/vertical directions. The mirror unit includes a mirror(71) and first and second comb electrode units(R). The mirror reflects the light. The first and second comb electrode units are connected to both sides of the mirror and have separately rotative comb electrodes(72,73) in each of double edges. The driving unit includes first and second driving comb electrodes.
