A step mechanism of a carrying device formed by steplessly connecting a plurality of steps (1) to each other so that these steps (1) can be circulatingly moved. One or a plurality of weights (11) are detachably fitted to one or more of the plurality of steps (1). These weights (11) are stored in spaces surrounded by step treads (2), risers (4), and yokes (3) forming the steps (1), and arrested on the rear surfaces of the step treads (2) in an arranged state in a row by channel members (12) of U-shape in cross section.
