The element is prepared by a method comprising the following steps: (A) forming a surface with a toothed profile extending in the surface length direction; (B) dispensing a strand (10) of paste-consistency material containing electrically conductive particles onto the surface; and (C) treating the strand so that it acquires an elastic, non-pasty state, creating a packing on top of the surface, the strand being bonded to the profile. The element has an elongated surface for applying to an underlay. An independent claim is also included for a mobile phone network base station containing the shielding element.
