A substrate of an LCD and a method of fabricating the same are provided to increase the transmission rate of a driving signal by forming a conductive line structure having a low resistance. A substrate(121) is prepared. A patterned first insulating layer(122) having a plurality of notches is formed on a surface of the substrate. A buffer layer(124) is formed to cover surfaces of the first insulating layer and the notches. The buffer layer is patterned to remain a patterned buffer layer on the surfaces of the notches. A first metal layer(126) is deposited to form a source and a drain in the notches of the first insulating layer. A patterned semiconductor layer is formed on the first insulating layer so as to be in contact with the source and the drain. A second insulating layer is formed on a surface of the semiconductor layer. A second metal layer is formed on the second insulating layer. |
