The invention relates to a stirring or dispersing device (1) comprising a hermetically sealed mixing space (5), a tool (2), which can be driven about a central axis in this mixing space (5) and having a rod-shaped element (3) for transmitting the power of a drive (4) to this tool (2), and comprising such a drive (4), located outside the mixing space (5), the rod-shaped element (3) being connected at the inlet into the mixing space (5) to a membrane (6), which is part of a wall (7) of the mixing space (5), and the rod-shaped element (3) being capable of being set in a tumbling motion by the drive (4), so that its end that is inside the mixing space (5) performs a circulating motion. To achieve an optimum stirring, dispersing, grinding or comminuting result for the mixed product, it is proposed that the tool (2) is formed by a number of grinding elements (22) or balls that are to be introduced into the mixing space (5).
