A heater using solid fuel is provided to prevent fire and improve energy efficiency by supplying a constant amount of solid fuel to a combustion unit. A heater using solid fuel includes a supply unit(100), a supply device(200), a combustion unit(300), an air blower unit(400), a heat exchange unit(600), and a controller(500). The supply unit has a driving motor(104) connected to a rail(102) for delivering solid fuel, and a carrier(106) for containing fuel, fixed onto the rail. The supply device moves solid fuel supplied from the supply unit to the position for combustion. The combustion unit includes a combustion plate where the solid fuel supplied from the supply device is burnt, and an air supply port for supplying air for combustion of the solid fuel. The air blower unit supplies air to the combustion unit through the air supply port of the combustion plate so as to adjust combustion of the solid fuel. The heat exchange unit allows heat exchange between air heated by the combustion unit and indoor air. The controller is arranged to control operation of the supply unit, the supply device, the air blower unit and the heat exchange unit in accordance with an indoor temperature.
