A method and a device for displaying a sound source of an audio are provided to prevent a time delay generated when extracting size information using a decoder by extracting the size information of the sound source for the audio using a pre-control unit before reproducing the sound source and to improve visual effect by displaying a waveform of the sound source. A device for displaying a sound source of an audio comprises a sound source reproducing unit(13), a pre-control unit(14), and a control unit(17). The sound source reproducing unit reproduces and controls the sound source of the audio by decoding the sound source. The pre-control unit phases and separates a bit stream of the sound source for the audio by a frame unit, and extracts and stores size information from each separated frame. The control unit displays a waveform which is applicable to the sound source of the audio in real time on a display unit(16) by synchronizing the size information with the reproduced sound source, when reproducing the sound source.
