A method for providing the location information of a phone is provided to enable the user of a mobile phone to easily catch the location of another mobile phone user only with a mobile phone number by acquiring the location information of a mobile phone corresponding to a specific mobile phone number from an HLR according to a request from a mobile phone user and transmitting the acquired information to the user's mobile phone through a short message. If the user of a mobile phone sends a service number and the number of a specific wire phone by wireless, a BS(Base Station) receives the service number and the phone number to a BSC(Base Station Controller)(S10). The BSC provides the service number and the phone number to an MSC(Mobile Switching Center)(S12). Receiving the service number and the phone number, the MSC judges whether the service number is for an intelligent network service. If so, the MSC provides the numbers to an intelligent network(S14). If the service number is for a location information service, the intelligent network requests an FETX(Full Electronic Telephone Exchange) in a PSTN to provide the location information of a wire phone equivalent to the phone number received together with the service number(S16). The FETX extracts the location information of the wire phone from a subscriber information storage part and provides the extracted information to the intelligent network(S18). The intelligent network requests the MSC to send the provided location information to the user's mobile phone through a short message(S20). |
