A refrigerator is provided to keep stored foods fresh for a long time in non-freezing state below phase transition temperature by projecting light and performing non-freezing mode and cold-shock operation mode. A refrigerator(100) comprises storage compartment, a refrigeration cycle(30), a non-freezing operation part, a microprocessor(90), and a light emitting unit(10). The storage compartment accommodates stored foods. The refrigeration cycle cools down the storage compartment. The non-freezing operation part, which performs a non-freezing mode for the storage compartment or stored foods, comprises an electrode part(50) disposed in the storage compartment, a voltage generating part(40) applying voltage to the electrode part. The microprocessor, as a control unit, performs cold-shock operation mode by the refrigeration cycle and non-freezing mode by the non-freezing operation part. The light emitting unit, as an LED(Light Emitting Diode), generates and emits light within the storage chamber.
