A protective cover for objects, particularly a seat cover (1) for the protection of a motor vehicle seat being made of a double layered plastic foil, especially for initial equipment, comprising a continuously extending front layer (3) being designed and arranged to protect the surface of a seating and of a backrest of a motor vehicle seat and a rear layer (2) being connected to the front layer (3) by transverse welding (6, 7). A first pocket (12) being formed by the rear layer (2) and the front layer (3) and being designed and arranged to receive the backrest of the seat and a second pocket (14) being arranged to receive at least a portion of the seating of the seat. Portions (11, 13) of the rear layer (2) forming the two pockets (12, 14) being connected to each other by connecting strips (20), the connecting strips extending over the free rims (18, 19) of the portions (11, 13) forming the pockets (12, 14) along the welding (6, 7) and being connected to the front layer (3) and the front layer (3) including a recess (9) with closed edges. At least a part of the rear layer (2) is made of an elastic and retractable material. A method comprising the step of forming a recess (9) of oval or rectangular shape formed by a continuous closed punching line and having rounded corners (10) and at least a portion of the rear layer (2) is made of an elastic and retractable material.
