A blow dryer equipped with a cover for an ion discharge outlet is provided to ground the cover by disposing protrusions on the back of the cover and allowing the protrusions to contact an opposing electrode of the ion discharging unit, thereby preventing the cover from electrifying the ions while offering protection to a user. A blow dryer has a motor driven rotary fan(21) and heating elements(65) disposed in an air passage of the dryer. An ion generating unit(5), which includes a discharging electrode(51) and an opposing electrode(52), is installed in a passage branching from the air passage and connected to an ion discharging outlet(13). The opposing electrode is installed closer to a cover(6) than the discharging electrode. The cover, having openings for allowing the ions to pass through, is disposed over the ion discharging outlet to prevent a user from placing his or her fingers into the outlet. Protrusions(60) disposed on the back of the cover contact the opposing electrode, and allows the cover to be grounded through the opposing electrode. An auxiliary force exerting unit is installed to exert a force towards the protrusions of the cover. |
