An optical character recognition system and a method thereof are provided to minimize the number of steps for obtaining the output of optical character recognition to allow a user to use an optical character recognition function easily. An optical character recognition system includes an application(100) and an optical character recognition unit(200). The application includes an application capable of processing characters. The application includes a driving module(110) for driving the optical character recognition unit. The driving module instructs the optical character recognition unit to execute an optical character recognition function on the application. The driving module is displayed in the form of an icon on the application.
