[Also in Groups VIII and XXXIV] A high-frequency electric apparatus for welding patches 10 to thermoplastic sheet material 2 (see Group XXXIV) comprises an anvil electrode 9 carried by a lower arm 4 of the apparatus which is insertable through the aperture 5 to be repaired and into an annular peripheral pocket 15 of the patch 10, and a roller electrode 20 carried by an upper arm 16 which is insulated from, and horizontally pivoted to, the lower arm 4. The arms 4, 16 are spring- urged apart but are movable together to effect welding, the roller 20 having a spring-loaded carbon brush 22 bearing thereon, and the brush and the electrode 9 being connected to a highfrequency source 25.</p> |
