A backlight assembly and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) having the same are provided to change the path of light concentrated on around a light incident surface by forming a round portion in the light incident surface of a light guide plate, thereby improving a bright line generated in an area adjacent to the light incident surface. A backlight assembly(120) comprises a lamp(160), a light guide plate(150), and at least one round portion(200). The lamp is disposed in a side. The light guide plate is disposed to form a side with the lamp. The at least one round portion is formed in the light incident surface of the light guide plate to change the path of light. The at least one round portion is extended to a length direction along the upper and lower areas of the light incident surface. |
