An auto-focus apparatus, an image capture apparatus, and an auto-focus method are provided to judge reliability without being influenced by the variation of evaluation value due to the movement of an object, by judging reliability of object images with in-focus. An auto-focus apparatus comprises an evaluation value calculation part and a control part. The evaluation value calculation part calculates evaluation values periodically by using high frequency components of an image signal in a specific region of an object image photographed by a CCD(Charge Coupled Device) part. The control part outputs a command value provided to a lens driving part to drive a focus lens on the basis of the evaluation value, and judges focus of the object image by using the evaluation value.
