A backlight unit is provided to enable ribs contacting a protruded common electrode to absorb vibration generated in first and second lower structures and the common electrode in applying power for the control of dimming, thereby reducing humming noise. A backlight unit comprises plural light emitting lamps(51), first and second lower structures(54a), a sound absorbing pad(62), a common electrode(53), and first and second upper structures(55a). The plural light emitting lamps are disposed at regular intervals in the upper part of a cover bottom. The first and second lower structures have grooves(61) in areas corresponding to between the light emitting lamps and are formed in a direction in both ends of the light emitting lamps. The sound absorbing pad is formed in the upper part of the first and second lower structures with the grooves. The common electrode is formed in a direction in the upper part of the first and second lower structures with the sound absorbing pad. The first and second upper structures have plural ribs(56) in an upper part corresponding to the grooves of the first and second lower structures and are formed in a direction.
