An LCD device and a driving method thereof are provided to improve color break up by compositing properly a color filter scheme and a field sequential scheme. An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device includes a liquid crystal panel(100), a backlight unit(300), and a driver(200). The liquid crystal panel includes a frame formed by plural pixels having first and second sub-pixels, which have different colors from each other, and white sub-pixels. The backlight unit, which supplies lights having different colors from each other, includes first and second light sources for supplying white lights while driving at the same time. The driver divides a frame into first and second sub-fields, and a white sub-field, and provides sequentially first and second emission lights, and white light corresponding to the respective sub-fields by driving the backlight unit, and displays images in the liquid crystal panel.
