A system and a method for measuring a distance from an RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification) reader to an RFID tag are provided to measure the distance from the RFID reader to the RFID tag, and control transmission power or a transceiving clock, or set a parameter of the RFID tag in the RFID reader according to the measured distance, thereby improving a recognition rate of the RFID tag. A signal transmitter(210) transmits an RF signal to the RFID tag in the RFID reader. A distance calculator(220) checks time receiving a signal responded from the RFID tag and calculates the distance from the RFID reader to the RFID tag by using the checked time. A parameter setting part controls parameter setting of the RFID tag by generating a control signal based on the calculated distance and transmitting the control signal to the RFID tag.
