An array substrate for an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to prevent generation of wavy noise by implementing a structure where only an island-shaped active layer is present in an upper part of a gate electrode, thereby manufacturing an LC panel with high image quality. On a substrate(100), a pixel area, a switching area, a gate area and a data area are defined, and a TFT(Thin Film Transistor) is disposed on the switching area. The TFT includes a gate electrode(102), an insulating layer, an ohmic contact layer and buffer metal(126) spaced from an active layer, and a source electrode(136) and a drain electrode(138) respectively contacted with the buffer metal. A data line(146) is disposed in the data area, and includes a transparent data pad(148) in its one end. On the data line, a transparent metal layer and an opaque metal layer are laminated. A gate line(104) is disposed in the gate area, and includes a gate pad configured with a transparent metal layer in its one end. A transparent pixel electrode(140) is disposed in the pixel area and contacted with the drain electrode. |
