APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MEASURING POLARIZED DIRECTION OF POLARIZER FOR LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY

An apparatus and a method for measuring a polarized direction of a polarizing plate for an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) are provided to determine the polarized direction of measuring sample by using only known reference axis of a measuring sample holder even when a user does not know a polarized direction of a polarizer as a reference, thereby measuring the exact polarized direction of the polarizing plate through a simple method. In a first polarizing plate(200), a polarized direction from a reference axis is arbitrarily arranged. A measuring sample(320) is for measuring a polarized direction. A measuring sample holder(310) respectively cradles the measuring samples in a first direction and a second direction mirror-symmetrical to the first direction, and rotates the measuring sample in an azimuth direction along the reference axis. A light source(100) provides light passing through the first polarizing plate and the measuring sample. A photo detector(400) detects light of the light source passing through the first polarizing plate and the measuring sample.
