A microwave oven is provided to control independently an upper heater and open a space on the upper heater such that food is warmed through the operation of an upper heater. A microwave oven has a door(60) formed in an upper cabinet on an upper heater such that the door opens/closes an opening(62) formed on the upper heater. The door is equipped with a door sensor such that the upper heater operates when the door sensors senses opening of the door. The microwave oven further includes a heater cover(67) for covering the upper heater.
