A process for preparing polyketone is provided to improve the catalytic activity, to increase the intrinsic viscosity to a degree sufficient for producing a high-quality material, and to decrease the melting temperature. A process for preparing polyketone comprises a step of carrying out terpolymerization of carbon monoxide, ethylene and propylene in a liquid medium in the presence of an organometal complex catalyst comprising (a) a Group 9, 10 or 11 transition metal compound, and (b) a ligand having a Group 15 element. In the method, the liquid medium is a mixed solvent containing 70-90 vol% of acetic acid and 10-30 vol% of water, carbon monoxide and ethylene are introduced in a molar ratio of 1:1-2, propylene is used in an amount of 1-20 mol% based on the total mixed gas containing carbon monoxide, ethylene and propylene, and benzophenone is added during the polymerization.
