A light shading apparatus for an audio-video system of a vehicle is provided to allow a driver to view clearly image on a monitor by shading light incident from an external source. A light shading apparatus includes bearings(14), a rotary shaft(20), and a light shading plate(30). The bearings are formed at both ends of an edge where a rear surface and a top surface of a housing(10) of an audio-video system of a vehicle contact each other. The rotary shaft is secured into the bearings. The light shading plate has one end connected to the rotary shaft such that the light shading plate is tightened onto the rear surface of the housing and tightened onto the top surface of the housing by being rotates through the rotation of the rotary shaft. The light shading plate has the other end projected from a front top of a monitor(12). A slave gear(40) and a driving gear are mounted on the rotary shaft such that the driving gear is engaged with the slave gear to rotate the slave gear. The slave gear is mounted on a center of the rotary shaft, and a cut-out portion(32) is formed at a part of the light shading plate such that the slave gear is positioned in the cut-out portion.
