The invention relates to a method for measuring the quality of perception by a user of a final multimedia signal (S'<SUB>MULT</SUB>) furnished by a receiver (12), said final multimedia signal being obtained by decoding a first coded signal (S'<SUB>COD</SUB>) received by the receiver from a packet data transmission network (14), the first coded signal corresponding to a second coded signal (S<SUB>COD</SUB>) provided to the network by a transmitter (10) and obtained by coding an initial multimedia signal (S<SUB>MULT</SUB>). The method consists of causing the receiver to provide a first tracking signal (S'<SUB>T</SUB>) representative of the sequence of decoding, of a simulation of the decoding applied to the first coded signal, of the coding or of a simulation of the coding applied to the final multimedia signal, to cause the transmitter to provide a second tracking signal (S<SUB>T</SUB>), and to compare the first and second tracking signals. |
