The aim of the invention is to create a test method and a device which al low electric charge flowing between two electrodes to be measured as accurat ely as possible in order to verify the tightness of moisture barriers. Said aim is achieved by a method and a device for measuring small electric charge s by means of a test electrode and a measuring electrode which are both in c ontact with one respective electrolyte liquid and are interconnected via an electric voltage source. The test electrode is surrounded by a moisture barr ier whose tightness is to be verified while the measuring electrode encompas ses a metal strip that is in contact with the electrolyte liquid and detache s from the measuring electrode or is dissolved in the electrolyte liquid acc ording to the number of electrical charge carriers exchanged between the ele ctrodes. The tightness of the moisture barrier can be measured by measuring the change in length of the metal strip. The invention is based on a galvani c process taking place in the inventive measuring device, an electrochemical , integrated test method being carried out which allows the electric charge flowing between two electrodes to be determined in an extremely accurate fas hion. The inventive method makes it possible to verify the integrity or tigh tness of insulation layers or moisture barriersfor implants with more accura cy than in previous art while reducing the influence of electromagnetic inte rferences on the test result.
