<p>An ophthalmic composition which contains alginic acid and/or a salt thereof and which, despite this, is improved in, e.g., tackiness during use and gives a satisfactory use feeling. It has the improved property of remaining on the eye mucosa. The ophthalmic composition contains (A) alginic acid and/or a salt thereof in combination with (B) hyaluronic acid and/or a salt thereof.</p>
