An LCD and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to form a relatively thin color filter correspondingly to a light receiving portion of a sensor TFT to improve a color scanning performance of the LCD and a sensing performance of the sensor TFT. An LCD comprises a TFT array substrate including a sensor TFT(140) for sensing a light having image information, and a color filter array substrate facing the TFT array substrate with a liquid crystal layer therebetween. The color filter array substrate includes a black matrix(194) and a color filter(196). The black matrix is formed in a region except a pixel area(P1), which corresponds to a pixel electrode(118) of the TFT array substrate, and a light receiving area(P2), which exposes a light receiving portion of the sensor TFT. The color filter is relatively thinner in the light receiving area than in the pixel area. |
