A scattering material installation scatters material onto a conveyor belt (1) to form scattering material mats, in the course of manufacturing wooden boards. A drop shaft (7) is provided between the scattering material hopper and the conveyor below (1) positioned underneath. The drop shaft (7) has one or more air supply devices (8) and one or more air removal devices (9,9') for generating air streams from the scattering material distribution over the width influencing the air streams.
