The method involves conveying a product e.g. coffee, flow (2) in a free fall. X-rays from a x-ray source (4) is radiated such that the rays passes through a partial area of a falling passage of the product flow. A time delay and integration camera (5) is positioned such that it partially detects the x-rays passing through the partial area of the falling passage of the product flow. The speed of the product flow is measured, when a laser beam is directed toward the product flow or objects. The laser radiation scattered back from the products or objects is evaluated. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for analyzing a product flow with a X-ray source and a time delay and integration camera (2) a device for sorting objects in a product flow.
