<p>A method and apparatus for supporting interactive video playback operations for a peer-to-peer video on demand service are described comprising detecting a video playback operation and detecting a sub-clip type. The method and apparatus also receive a streamed leading video sub-clip, determine a set of needed video sub-clips, locate one of the set of needed video sub-clips and downloading the located video sub-clip.</p>
