A method for transmitting system information comprises: the system information is mapped to a broadcast channel and downlink shared channel through a base station, in which the broadcast channel data block carrying system information includes a demodulation indication required to obtain downlink shared channel data block. Thereby a user equipment may obtain carried the system information from the broadcast channel and the downlink shared channel in according to the demodulation indication. Furthermore a system and a base station and a user equipment for transmitting system information are disclosed in the embodiment in the present invention.Applying the technical solution of the embodiment in the present can save sufficiently user equipment cost, and sufficiently utilize frequency resource and power resource transmitted by base station, and increase the capability and throughput of a cell.
