APPLICATION MANAGEMENT APPARATUS OF SET TOP BOX AND METHOD THEREOF

An apparatus and a method for managing applications of set-top boxes are provided to give interoperability and internetworking between various set-top boxes by managing the applications independently employed according to the management characteristic and policy in a service platform supporting various set-top box models. Applications and management rules of set-top boxes are monitored(S101). The applications and the management rules are analyzed so that it is determined if a set-top box requiring the editing of the management rule and the application exists(S102-S104). The application and the management rule of a corresponding set-top box are edited and updated into a database if the set-top box exists(S106). The edited application and management rule are distributed and applied to the set-top box(S107,S108).
