The output voltage of an electrostatic generator G having an insulating charge-carrier 1 is regulated by controlling the current passing through it by means of an electronic valve 7 whose impedance is controlled in dependence on the voltage at output terminal 11. The input inductor plate 2 is constantly charged by a generator 6; as shown for a generator having a negative output polarity, the current sprayed on by input ionizer 3 is controlled by the valve 7. The output voltage is divided by resistance 15, compared with a voltage source 9, amplified at 8 and fed to the grid of the regulating valve. The amplifier distortion may be corrected by condensers 13, 14, while condenser 10 smoothes current surges. A modification is described in which the grid of the triode 7 is earthed and its cathode is connected to earth through a pentode which acts as amplifier 8. In machines giving an output of positive polarity, the triode 7 is connected in the current output line. Specification 719,687 is referred to. |
