An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to supply an LCD with high brightness by improving transmittance of an LC panel by installing a fluorescent color filter, for absorbing ultraviolet rays and generating visible rays, and an in cell polarizer in a first substrate. A first substrate(105) includes a fluorescent color filter(112) and an in cell polarizer(114) formed on the fluorescent color filter. A second substrate(103) faces the first substrate. An LC(Liquid Crystal) layer(107) is installed between the first and second substrates. The first substrate includes gate lines and data lines crossing each other and defining a pixel area, and a TFT(Thin Film Transistor)(109) formed at an intersection of the gate and data lines. The fluorescent color filter is installed in the pixel area.
