A sorting apparatus and a method for separating and recycling waste and soil of a sanitary landfill are provided to prevent secondary soil pollution and environmental pollution by removing adulterations mixed in the ground of the construction site and to restrain unbalance caused by ground subsidence by using the crushed soil as landfill soil. A sorting apparatus(10) for separating and recycling waste and soil of a sanitary landfill is composed of: a drum sorter(20) installed at a square frame(11) and provided with an input port(21) formed at one side and a discharge port(22) formed on the other side; a discharge conveyor(30) mounted at the discharge port of the drum sorter to discharge the sorted soil; a crusher(40) having a crushing blade(42) installed inside to crush clods of soil ejected from the discharge conveyor, wherein the upper and lower parts of the crusher are opened; a plate-shaped sorter(50) installed at the bottom of the crusher and inclined to sort out the crushed soil and adulterations; and a transfer conveyor(60) mounted at the bottom of the plate-shaped sorter to transfer the soil separated from the adulterations.
