A multi domain LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to form a common electrode on a color filter layer where a hole is formed, and form a protrusion as a dielectric structure on the common electrode so as to be corresponded to the hole, thereby distorting an electric field effectively according to curvature of the common electrode irrespectively of a dielectric constant of dielectric material forming the protrusion. A multi domain LCD comprises a first and a second substrates(10,20), gate lines and data lines(18), a pixel electrode(11), a color filter layer(14), a hole(19), a common electrode(15), a dielectric structure(16), and an LC layer(17). The gate lines and data lines are for defining a pixel area on the first substrate. The pixel electrode is formed within the pixel area of the first substrate. The color filter layer is formed on the second substrate. The hole is formed on the color filter layer. The common electrode is formed on the front of the color filter layer where the hole is formed. The dielectric structure of a protrusion shape is formed on the common electrode so as to be corresponded to the hole. The LC layer(7) is formed between the first and second substrates. |
