A method and a system for selecting a pillow customized to a user are provided to make a user sleep well by calculating an occipital shape and measuring weight of the head, and providing pillow information suitable for the user based on calculated/measured data. A contact type occipital outline calculating device(100) calculates a distance from a reference surface, which is the back of a chair, to the occipital scalp of the user while moving in a vertical direction. A side image capturing device(200) captures a side image of the head. A pillow selection device(300) determines an upper side shape and height of the pillow suitable for an occipital outline profile of the head and selects a standard for the pillow by correcting the pillow height according to the head weight, which is estimated from a side area of the head. The pillow selection device includes an occipital shape determiner(310), a pillow type/height determiner(330), a head side area calculator(320), and a pillow height calibrator(340) calculating a value for correcting the height of the pillow by calculating the weight of the user head from the head side area. |
