An instant messenger-based interactive personal information management system and a method are provided to enable a PIMS(Personal Information Management System) agent to provide detailed information regardless of an environment. An instant messenger client allows a user to connect to an instant messenger service. An instant messenger service server relays conversation of users. A PIMS agent as a virtual user makes conversation with a user.
