The retaining unit (16) has a base body, which exhibits a retainer for retaining a medical object (2) e.g. implant, where the base body has a continuous opening on a side that is turned away from an opened side of the retainer. The retaining unit is formed with the one side opened retainer and a closed mounting opening. The base body is designed in such a manner that it is insertable in a direction with the opened side of the retainer or in an opposite direction. The base body has a recess in an area between the retainer and a mounting opening, and is designed in cuboid-shape.
