COSMID VECTOR FOR TRANSFORMING PLANT AND METHOD OF USING THE SAME

It is intended to provide a novel vector for transforming a plant. A vector having the following characteristics and having a full length not exceeding 15 kb: 1) having the replication origin of IncP plasmid but being free from the replication origin of any other plasmid species; 2) having trfA1 gene of IncP plasmid; 3) having oriT of IncP plasmid; 4) having incC1 gene of IncP plasmid; 5) having the cos site, which is located outside T-DNA, of a lambda phage; 6) having a drug-resistance gene expressed in Escherichia coli and a bacterium belonging to the genus Agrobacterium; 7) having the right border sequence of T-DNA in a bacterium belonging to the genus Agrobacterium; 8) having the left border sequence of T-DNA in a bacterium belonging to the genus Agrobacterium; 9) having a selection marker gene for transforming a plant which is located between 7) and 8) and expressed in the plant; and 10) having a restriction enzyme recognition site for cloning a foreign gene which is located between 7) and 8).
