A composition suitable as a moulding, potting, adhesive or laminating composition and curable to a resin when heated to 50 DEG -200 DEG C. comprises (a) a glycidyl ester of an a , b -unsaturated dicarboxylic acid, (b) a polycarboxylic acid anhydride and (c) an alcohol; the composition containing 0,55-1,0 anhydride groups per epoxide group and 0,01 - 0,9 alcoholic hydroxyl groups per anhydride group. Specified glycidyl esters are those of acrylic and methacrylic acid, Specified anhydrides are those of pryomellitic, maleic, cyclopentanetetracarboxylic, itaconic and 3-methylene cyclobutane - 1:2 - dicarboxylic acid. Specified alcohols are ethylene-, diethylene-, triethylene - and polyethylene glycols; 2. 2-bis[4-(2-hydroxypropoxy)-phenyl] propane, 2-ethylhexanol, tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol, ethylene glycol monomethyl ether and the reaction product of a novolak having an average of six phenolic hydroxyl groups with propylene oxide. Curing of the composition is accelerated by an organic compound containing at least one amino group (many specified). Examples are given. |
