Production of a pneumatic tire with single- or multi-part tread strips of rubber compound (A) containing 0.5-15 vol. % staple fibers (or similar elongated or plate form filler) (B) with specific orientation, involves (i) orienting (B) longitudinally(relative to the extrusion direction) in (A) during extrusion and (ii) applying (A) for at least part of the tread strips onto the tire blank (4) as a loop-form extruded strand (3) with sections running parallel to the tire axis. Independent claims are included for: (1) a variant of the process, in which (as an alternative to feature (ii)) (A) for at least part of the tread strips is applied onto a transporting device as a loop-form extruded strand to form a strip, which is shaped using at least one transporter device, cut to lengths and applied to the tire blank (4) as at least part of the tread strips; and (2) a pneumatic tire with single- or multi-part tread strips at least partially produced using the process.
