A repeater having a signal strength measurement function of a portable terminal in portable Internet, a signal strength measurement method thereof, and a location measurement method of the portable terminal using the method are provided to measure signal strength of the terminal to measure a location of the terminal positioned within a cell radius of the repeater, thereby offering a higher-quality location based service. A repeater inputs CID(Caller Identification) information of a portable terminal whose location measurement is requested by a gateway server(S150). The repeater extracts uplink data area information allocated to the inputted CID information from a downlink signal(S151), and calculates an FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) result value(S152). The repeater extracts a signal processing value only of a subcarrier corresponding to the uplink data area information(S153). The repeater calculates an average power value of the terminal by using the extracted signal processing value of the subcarrier(S154).
