[PROBLEMS] To provide a process for producing a fatty acid alkyl ester in which water or the like (which is an impurity and therefore inhibits the reaction) is removed at a satisfactory level and which proceeds at a high reaction efficiency. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A process for producing a fatty acid alkyl ester, comprising at least the following steps (A) to (C): (A) removing at least water from an oil-and-fat raw material; (B) converting a fatty acid glyceride contained in the oil-and-fat raw material into a fatty acid alkyl ester by conducting the microparticle dispersion mixing, so that the triglyceride content in the fatty acid alkyl ester becomes 0.1 wt% or less; and (C) separating at least glycerin from a mixture containing the fatty acid alkyl ester. The process enables to produce a fatty acid alkyl ester with efficiency.
