Device for introduction of at least one weakening (12) into laminar material (2) having a gas permeable layer by laser irradiation where the device includes a hollow space (4) for reception of at least part of the laminar material, a means for guiding a gas thru a partial region of the laminar material, and an element for production and direction of the laser beam into this partial region. An independent claim is included for a method of introducing a weakening into a laminar material as described above.
