A device and a method for processing an image in a printer system are provided to minimize time for processing all image data and maximize a system resource/performance efficiency in the printer system embedded with a hardware type image processor by enabling a CPU to process the image data while the image processor embedded in the printer system processes the image data. An image distributor(120) distributes the generating image into a first and second image data according to a predetermined distribution ratio. A first image processor(250) is realizes in a hardware type and processes the first image data. A second image processor(270) is embedded in a CPU of a printer in a software type and processes the second image data. A distributor determiner(280) calculates the distribution ratio by measuring an image processing speed of the first and second image processor. An image merger(230) merges the first image processed in the first image processor and the second image processed in the second image processor.
