HTS MAGNET CHARACTERISTIC EVALUATION AND QUENCH PROTECTION DEVICE

An HTS(High Temperature Superconductivity) magnet characteristic evaluation and quench protection apparatus is provided to protect a pancake coil from excessive voltage generated in the pancake coil due to quench, by a dump resistor. An HTS magnet characteristic evaluation and quench protection apparatus is composed of an HTS magnet(100) made of a pancake coil wound with superconductive wire rods; a dump resistor(200) connected with the pancake coil in parallel, in order to generate energy stored in the HTS magnet by resistance heat when quench occurs; a voltage tap(300) electrically connected to both ends of the pancake coil and both ends of the dump resistor to measure voltage of both ends of the dump resistor; a circuit breaker switch(400) connected with the pancake coil in series, to cut off current flowing toward a power supply when quench occurs and to make the current flow toward the dump resistor; a control-monitoring device(500) monitoring and controlling data of the HTS magnet; and a data acquisition device(600) inputting and collecting data of the HTS magnet.
