PROJECTION WELDED FASTENER WITH INTEGRAL SEALER

A fastener for a projection resistance welding operation is provided to fill and seal a gap between a base and a panel with a sealer when heating the base in an electric resistance welding operation. A fastener for a projection resistance welding operation comprises a base(42), a plurality of projections, and a circular groove(56). The base includes a shank(44) formed with a thread. The projections are extended from a lower part(54) of the base. The circular groove is positioned inside the lower part of the base which is a middle portion between the shank and the projection. The lower part of the base is separated on a surface of the panel slightly to have a gap(68) between the lower part and the panel. A gap(70) is formed between a wall of an aperture(62) and the shank with the thread. The gaps are filled by expanding a bead of a sealer which is expanded by heat generated in an electric resistance welding operation to prevent noise from passing through the aperture.
